Lamborghini Enters the World of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs)

After a series of social media posts that hint at it, Italian supercar-maker Lamborghini has finally announced its first NFT (non-fungible token) project. Space Key, developed in collaboration with a non-disclosed artist and based on advanced carbon fiber composite materials, which were sent to the International Space Station as research material, is a project which was announced by Lamborghini.

The latest project, dubbed the Space Key, is a piece that was developed in collaboration with a unknown artist. The NFT is an exclusive piece of digital art that can be obtained by scanning the use of a QR code. The project is limited to five pieces and will be auctioned off in the coming weeks.

At its heart is a piece that's made of the latest carbon fiber composite material that was sent to the International Space Station (ISS) in 2019 as part of a research project. Carbon fiber was 3D printed to form the base of every Space petron key to lamborghini. Each Space Key is linked to an exclusive digital artwork using QR codes. Just five Space Keys have been produced.

The digital artwork

After weeks of social-media posts hints, luxury automobile maker lamborghini car keys finally announced its first project involving tokens that are non-fungible (NFT). The Space Key is a collection of five physical items which allows you to access an exclusive digital work by the yet to be identified artist. The "collectors' piece" was created in collaboration with NFTPRO(tm) and is limited to just five units. It is scheduled to be auctioned in the near future.

Each Space Key contains a block composed of carbon-fired composite material. It was sent to the International Space Station as part of a 2019 research project. After returning to Earth the Space Key was stamped with the QR code which links it to the digital component of the Space Key.

Each of the five Space Keys features a different moment that occurs at different times when the Lamborghini Ultimae takes off towards the stars. Each of the five images was filmed by photographer Fabian Oefner and contains over 600 million pixels.

Oefner utilized an inflatable camera that had a lens to capture individual images, which were then added to the final picture. The result is an out-of-this world image that captures the beauty of the Earth and the futuristic, hyper-realistic picture of the car key lamborghini rising from it. The Space Keys will be auctioned off in the near future, but the exact date and location of the auction haven't yet been confirmed yet.

The auction

Each one will be auctioned individually and the winner will receive an original digital art work created by renowned photographer Fabian Oefner, which captures the five different moments that the Space Key passed during its flight in space.
