What is an Item Upgrader in Pokemon Go?

The item upgrader is an additional widget at the top of both the Angel and Cash Upgrade Windows. This Manager is priced at 33 billion Angel Investors and offers no gameplay benefit aside from making it easier to find and purchase upgrades.

There are a myriad of enhancements that can be obtained with an upgrader. These can include a variety of stats, as well as many additional bonuses. Some of these boosts are only suitable for specific builds (such Whistan's shield, for FB sorcs) while others could provide an enormous amount of value to specific collectors.

Certain items come with inherent boo that is less useful when upgraded, for example the Goldwrap that gives you extra potion slots. These are often upgraded to add value to a close-to-perfect or perfect item.

Costs

There are a few expenses associated with item upgrades. The first is the cost for the upgrade. It can be costly and is dependent on the new ilvl of the item and the number of perks it receives. Upgrades to a higher level (such as Explorer to Champion or Veteran to Heroic) can be costly.

The second is the cost of materials needed for an upgrade. Upgrades to an item are complicated and takes time. It can take up to 8 hours depending on the size of the upgrade. The upgraded item's base stats are calculated using the item's new ilvl bonus, perks, as well as other properties. You can also add other materials to the upgrade to increase its chances of success. These are shown in a separate window, above the + button. There are however limitations to this, and the largest amount of material that can be added is shown just above the + button in the UI.

Another way to increase the chances of an upgrade succeeding is by using an item called the Blacksmith Blessing or an upgraded version of it. This Best item Upgrader is useful when you own a weapon or piece of equipment that is at the maximum level for its tier, or is close to it. This item lets you upgrade the equipment to the next tier without the risk of it breaking.

The cost of this protection can vary however it will always be less than the cost of buying a new item. The safeguard can be used only once per upgrade, and is not a valid expiry date unless it is used again.

The interface for the item upgrader can be a bit difficult, but isn't impossible to navigate. The main menu is visible on the left and the upgrade window is displayed on the right. The arrows to the left of the UI indicate the different stages of the upgrade items process. If you're not certain what you're doing, you can hit the question mark to seek help. The upgrade process can take as long as five minutes.
