They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our top option. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a great deal for those whose office or home has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. It's also extremely quiet and works while you're at work or in school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle, however. If you're required to, the mopping pad can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a compact, sleek package. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba rather than the compact models This mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our evaluations. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the only robotic vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely self-refill and empty its base station and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has an easy mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's still quite loud which could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and look better. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful however, it's going to cost you more and make more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot vacuum that mops uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, though this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on the degree of dirt they are.

If you own a larger home, you should consider selecting a robot that comes with spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to instruct the robot on which part of your house needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice command. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have large furniture. For families with busy schedules recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be very beneficial.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad, which uses an oscillating motion that is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate a mapping run, which gathers information on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to set up a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for better performance. The app comes with a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. You can also create a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean the area.
